Why Be Couple-tastic?

Ever wonder why people spend so much time improving their appearance and careers, while spending little to no time improving their relationships? We all think relationships are just what they are..but, that’s not true. We can all be couple-tastic!

This is the place to learn about the latest trends, research, tips and advice to make your relationship the best it can be – whether dating or committed. It’s time to make our relationships a priority in our busy lives.

If you’re here we have something in common – we both want our relationship to be the best it can be.

I love the site! I knew that it took work to make a long lasting loving relationship but I just didnt know what steps were actually needed!

    Thanks Emmy!
I hope that my blog can be fun and informative. It’s interesting to me how little of this kind of relationship information makes it out to the public – there are literally oodles of academic journals publishing helpful research on relationships and marriage each year…and we rarely hear about it. Plus, who doesn’t like dishing about relationship quirks and dating dilemmas? I know I sure do…. 😉

hey there – it is great to see someone else really fighting for marriage and relationships and really giving it such a strong focus – thank-you – in a world where role models seem hard to find in this area and where the media does everything it can to break this down, we need so much more of this – if there is ever anything i post that you feel will be good to repost or link to please feel absolutely free to – if you search my blog for a series i did on ‘how to love your woman better’ a while ago that was a lot more in depth than the current improve your marriage series of my friends thoughts so maybe do a search for that if you have time and see if there is anything there you can use… keep on…

I really enjoy your blog. It’s very interesting and I love that you are a psychologist! I loved the post about being perfect and how it’s a myth!

    Hi Alice:
Thanks so much for your comment and for reading my blog! I have a Master’s Degree in psychology and I did my Master’s thesis on a specific type of marriage and family therapy…but unfortunately, I’m not a practicing psychologist. I’m a full time publicist for a non-profit organization. So, this blog is a way for me to live out and talk about my personal passion – having great relationships!

PS – I really like your blog too! 🙂

    Thanks for reading!

I love this! This is so important for any type of relationship. I’d love to know what you think of our society that seems to have many individuals, and less marriages…and how any of those principles apply to any relationship.

    Thank you for inspiring us!

I have noticed that you have been visiting my site and I just wanted to say thank you and I thought I would do the same. I read in “about you” that your primary focus is heterosexual relationships. We are a homosexual couple with children so I am not sure where I fit in because me and my husband have two wonderful boys and are happy for the most part but as you have read on my site we do have our problems mostly me. Anyways I wanted to thank you for pressing the like button and if you read something and have advice it would be most welcome. I like your site and the focus of your site and decided to follow you. Hopefully we can start a dialog and perhaps become friends. I like your take on things!

    Take care Mrs,

I would like to know your thoughts on same sex marriage. My husband and I have been together for ten years and just celebrated our first anniversary of being legally married in the United Kingdom where we have our primary home. When New York legalized same sex marriage earlier this year we decided to come back to the States just to legalize on this side of the pond as well.

I am interested in your thoughts as a person with a Masters Degree in Psychology. I am interested in your thoughts as a person and would like to know where you stand on the issue? I look forward to hearing from you!!

    Take care Mrs,

      Hi JDC:
      Congratulations on your marriage!

My thought on same-sex marriage? I am in favor. As someone who has family members and friends in the gay community, I belive they are surely entitled to the same rights as us heterosexual couples.

I’m sure you’re right that my blog is skewed toward heterosexual issues…but that’s probably because I am heterosexual and I write on topics that have impacted me in my personal relationships. That said, I do go out of my way to try to use gender neutral language – partner, spouse and mate – because I do want to be inclusive, and have been intentional about that from the beginning here.

I’m also proud to live in the Washington, DC area. DC was the 6th place in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage.

Anyway – I hope this answers your question about my personal beliefs. I enjoy reading your blog and hey, maybe you might work with me someday to create a blog post about relationship issues facing same-sex married couples? 🙂

      Thanks for reading my blog!

Kristin, Thank you for visiting my little blog. It is something that will be a journal of growth in the coming days/months/years. I use ‘growth’ in reference to many portions of “me” (quilting me; blog site ‘tech’ me; wife me; journal/diary me; cooking me; family me, etc, etc). Will enjoy exploring your world in the days to come. Have an awesome day! Hugs, Doreen

Thanks for stopping by and liking my post. Making the marriage work when the spouse is gone so much of the time is a juggling act. I hope any insight and advice I share benefits others. In this case though I needed to follow my own advice! Thanks again!
